Ingrid Flores, Ed.D.

Ingrid M. Flores is an Associate Professor in Science Education at California State University San Marcos. She earned a bachelorʼs degree in biological sciences from St. Edwards University, a masterʼs degree in curriculum and instruction in science education from the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP), and a Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in Higher Education from Argosy University. Her science education courses focus on developing pre-service teachersʼ content and pedagogical competence through exploratory and investigative science. She also teaches mathematics education courses that focus on constructivist teaching and learning approaches. Dr. Floresʼs previous teaching experience at UTEP included extensive work in developmental mathematics with underprepared and underrepresented/minority student populations to track them into science and mathematics majors.

Dr. Flores has significant teaching experience in higher education and in training K-8 public school classroom teachers and diverse student populations in exploratory and investigative science including professional development in the Next Generation Science Standards. Her current published research and international conference presentations focus on developing and increasing pre-service teachersʼ self-efficacy for science teaching through site-based science mentoring of elementary students.
