Empowering Long Term English Language Learners

Participants will leave this session with a keen understanding of research based best practices for educating Long Term English Language Learners (LTELS). Participants will dialogue on how educators can be more responsive to the current needs of LTELs. District and site leaders will be grounded in the demands and language shifts related to Common Core, cultivate a research base on gauging program effectiveness, be aware of unintended consequences of LTEL label, and use systems to effectively communicate to students, families, and stakeholders to ensure all students reach their highest potential.
