How are we serving Middle Eastern /North African/ Southwest Asian (MENASWA) families with students who have disabilities
MENASWA families are viewed as “white” demographically, but may have significantly different experiences and cultural views of special education – even from other MENASWA families. There is very limited data on this population and thus it has been a relatively invisible group for research and specific strategies in schools. This presentation will share research recently done on the experiences of MENASWA families who have children with disabilities and provide practical tips for how educators can better work with these populations.
