About MECA

MECA, the Multicultural Education Conference in Anaheim, is a multicultural event hosted by The Academia Foundation, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity. The inaugural MECA conference was held on August 19 & 20th 2017 at the Anaheim Convention Center, with the event’s plenary speaker being Sylvia Mendez, the Presidential Medal of Freedom Recipient and central figure in the landmark Mendez v. Westminster case that prohibited segregation in California’s public schools. Over the 2-day event, more than 30 presentations were made by world-acclaimed academics, public officials, and educational and multicultural experts. MECA is held in August each year. The multicultural-related presentations cover a wide range of topics of importance to teachers, administrators and those interested in multicultural education and intercultural communications.
